Ci-macho1 binds to 5'-GCCCCCCGCTG-3', the terminal Gs and the central CCC being critical for binding in vitro (Yagi 2004)
An additional Macho1 site was reported on the negative strand between position -2255 and -2245, but its sequence (5'-GCCCGTCGCGG-3') does not correspond with the JGI 2.00 sequence.
